Juan M. Diaz serves as Counsel to CSX Transportation in the Business and Governance section of the Law Department. Juan is a business lawyer whose practice focuses on commercial contracts, transportation projects, and securities law matters, including the Company’s debt issuances.
Juan also supports CSX with his work on special projects related to campaign finance compliance and public affairs, and in such capacity serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the CSX Good Government Fund, the company’s political action committee.
Juan is actively involved in CSX’s corporate diversity program, having served in leadership for both the Hispanic and Young Professional Inclusion Groups. Prior to his employment with CSX, Juan was an associate in the Charlotte office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, specializing in commercial mortgage-backed securities.
Juan graduated from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law with his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2003 and was elected into the Order of the Coif. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor for the Florida Law Review and, among various honors, was inducted into Florida Blue Key. Juan continues to represent the College of Law as a member of its Law Alumni Council.
Prior to law school, Juan earned his Series 7 securities license and worked with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith in Jacksonville. Juan received his undergraduate degree in Economics and International Affairs in 1998 from Florida State University.
Juan is an active member of the Jacksonville Community. He is a member of the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2008, and serves as an officer and board member for Guys with Ties of Jacksonville and The Crew, HabiJax’s young professionals group. He is also involved with Atlantic Circle, having been selected as a 2007 Stein Fellow. Juan has supported the development of the City through his service on the Convention Center Task Force and the Comcast Community Investment Panel. He is a member of the Jacksonville Bar In-House Counsel Section and the Hispanic Bar Association of Northeast Florida, and has been admitted to The North Carolina State Bar. His hobbies and interests include running and fitness, most outdoor recreation, travel, and spending time with his dog, Dallas.
